To combat the growing menace of the ground-to-air missile. a number of Thunderchiefs (54) were converted to 'Wild Weasel' missile suppression standard. These were two-seat aircraft and armed with antiradiation (radar) missiles. F105G 63-8320 WW/35th TFW is seen at home base in George AFB, CA, October 1979. This aircraft shot down a MiG-17 over North Vietnam on 19 December 1967. It is also credited with two further MiG kills and has been preserved by the USAF museum.
