SAAB 35

Sweden has for many years had a 'go it alone' policy with the design and manufacture of very advanced warplanes. This complements the national neutral status. In October 1955 they first flew the Mach-2 interceptor, the SAAB 35 Draken (Dragon). The first production aircraft were delivered towards the end of that decade.
Seen here at its Angelholm base, August 1995, is 35586 62/Fl0, a J35J variant. FlO was the last unit to operate the type in front-line service. (PJD)
